Do you know the Why, How, What and When of Networking?
Hi! My name is Edward Plant from The Business League. My wife Rebecca and I run The Business League which is the business networking support organisation on the Gold Coast. We aim to connect with business owners to create growth, relationships, develop knowledge so you can improve your business and thirdly, Grow, so grow your business. That’s what we do in any of our events.
Today, I wanted to talk to you about the Why, What, When and How of Networking. So if you don’t know this or do this, your Networking is just not can’t be as powerful as it can be if you don’t do this:
- WHY – Why do you network? So what’s that big reason why you network? Is it to get more customers? Sort of, but I think you can do better than that. So really understand the Why because it’s connected to you. About what it is and why you’re doing networking. So, get deep on that.
- What – It is, basically What do you want out of Networking? Customers Clients, Knowledge, Skills, Strategies, all of those and there’s lot tangible outcomes that you can get from Networking. So, be clear on what you want from your Networking.
- How – You’re clear on Why you’re going to network and What are you going to get out of it. The third is How you’re going to do it. How you’re going to interact, How you’re going to present yourself at Networking events. A great example of one of these is, If you’ve been to a networking event, you’ve met somebody in that set off, You said “Hey! what do you do?” and it’s gone on to do this, this, this, this and this just goes well and you end up confused and “go cool that great for you!” But you just don’t know how you could help them or any of that. So, understand How you going to network. What you’re portraying at the different events and also inside the events, How you’re going to turn up when are you turning up, when are you leaving, how you’re interacting, how are you mingling, how are you moving from people to people how you’re setting you and your business up for success. That leaves to the fourth one.
- When – When you’re going to network? Are you going to do weekly, monthly, six times a month, eight times a month, ten times a month, once a month, whatever it is. Are you going to do it in breakfast, lunch or drinks or dinners? Are doing weekend once. Workout when you get on the network. So, at the end of it, if you know Why, What, How and When for your Networking. You will be in a much stronger position. If you get this clear at the start of your year with networking, you have a bigger and better result in your Networking for that year.
That’s all the time what I got for, we’d love to see you one of our events to use some of these that’s Edward Plant signing off from The Business League.
