We’ve got some big news … And no we are not pregnant.
But, one of our babies IS leaving home.
When Ed and I took this group on, under another name in 2012, we never knew where it was going to take us.
We had a vision that we wanted to have great impact, and to create a group that had great impact, but we never thought it would be this great.
Nor, did we know we would establish a culture that was this thriving, supportive, smart and loving.
So, thank you.
But here’s the thing …. In 2016, we ran 21 breakfast events and seated 1192 bottoms in two locations.
In addition to that, The Business League hosted another 21 events through coffee catch-ups, workshops and Board of Directors. And we delivered a 220-person Gala Ball that raised $24,000 for the Gold Coast Project for Homeless Youth.
Outside of TBL, we ran another 10 events for Lead a Better Business through our Leaders Lab program and seminars.
Where did that leave us?
So full of gratitude … But to be honest, pretty god damn tired.
In October last year, we recognised that what we had going on was ENORMOUS. Much more enormous than just us and one full-time Assistant.
So, we started to build a team.
A team that was full of organised, generous, smart, driven, community-spirited and fun people.
And, well, 6 months they are in a position where we are ready to let them at it on their own.
The Business League is about to enter a HUGE new era.
And within that, we are about to take on a WHOLE NEW role.
We have recognised that we can do the most for your advancement, if we are not involved in every event.
Over the past 7 years, we have worked with leaders of organisations getting them out of the hot seat and in to the drivers seat. In a place where they lead the positive development of their operation to greener pastures and bigger fair grounds.
It’s time for us to do the same.
What does that mean?
From June 3, the Team will be in the driving seat.
Our right-hand, organisational and operational Expert Amanda Beattie – you know her as our Client Concierge – will be at the helm of our backstage operations. She is THE woman to go to with any questions. She now knows more about the nitty gritty of how this place works than we do.
And, at our events and on the ground, after you’ve been greeted by our gorgeous right-hand, you’ll be in the strong hands of Kathy Bateman and Andrew Wegener.
These two have been hanging around us like bad smells over the past few months. They have watched every minute thing we do to make sure that we have one of the most professional outfits going around.
They know how to run a cracking event … And most of all, how to handle you lot!
And what will we be doing?
Oh, we’ll be watching, don’t you worry.
We will still be at the occasional event. We’ll be driving initiatives that support us to give you access to our continually impressive line-up of educational speakers.
In Ed’s language – We’ve created a growth strategy that supports the enhancement of your network and gets you greater return.
We’ll be spreading our network and in-turn, increasing and up-levelling yours.
It’s going to be massive. AND, it’s going to be awesome.
Before all that, we’re taking a month off. Through June and July, you’ll be able to find us towing a camper trailer somewhere in North Queensland.
Our kids have grown up with us running off to events. And now, it’s time they had some quality time with us checking out the country.
Most importantly, it’s time we had some time out to be together.
So, that’s our big news.
The Business League is growing up. It’s the absolute next big thing for our community and we are excited.
We love you guys and we look forward to sharing in the next version of our community.
Thank you for always bringing your A Game, for sharing the love within our community and for being part of our family.
This is not farewell, just we’ll see you soon.
Ed and Bec
